Ceroc / Modern Jive is based on Rock & Roll which was first introduced into France by the American GI's at the end of the Second World War.
Once Europeans commenced to dance 'Disco' and separate from their partners, the French continued to partner dance and developed their own less structured style.
In the early 80's the style crossed the channel and was taken up in London, from there it has spread around the globe. Ceroc / Modern Jive has continued to develop it's own unique style blending latin, jive, salsa, rock and roll, funk and dirty dancing together to create a fun, adaptable dance that can be danced to all the great hits of the last 100 years!!
In 1991 Nicky Haslam brought the dance style Ceroc / Modern Jive to Australia from England and the unique, sensual and exciting Aussie Ceroc style is recognised across the Ceroc Modern Jive World. Nicky and her dance partner Robert Winter recently won the UK Jive Masters Championship in London, competing against 40 of the best Modern Jive & Swing couples in the UK and conduct regular Tours to both the UK and inter-state Australia, teaching classes, workshops and performing their various cabaret pieces.
For many dancers Ceroc / Modern Jive has released the shackles of couples dancing, developing an exciting new expressive style for today, where you can adapt your current styles and dance anywhere (i.e. pubs, clubs, weddings and parties).
